KITAP stands for Kartu Izin Tinggal Tetap (Permanent Residence Card), granted for five years at a time, with a maximum validity of the Multiple Exit and Re-entry Permit (MERP) up to 2 years. KITAP is extendable for an indefinite period (unlimited) as long as the permit is not canceled.
According to Indonesia Immigration Law number 6 Year 2011, KITAP can be granted to the following eligible candidates:
To qualify for a KITAP application under the Spouse category, you must have a minimum marriage duration of two years. The Spouse KITAP is obtained through a Switching Status application, requiring prior acquisition of a Spouse KITAS before converting to KITAP.
Former Indonesian citizens can apply for a Repatriation KITAP through a Switching Status from Repatriation KITAS. Eligibility requires a minimum of two consecutive Repatriation KITAS for two years. Typically, a Repatriation KITAS is submitted to regain Indonesian citizenship.
Applicants falling into this category are eligible for a KITAP after four consecutive years of residence in Indonesia. Similar to the Spouse KITAP, the application involves a Switching Status process from the KITAS.
Particularly for foreign shareholders (director or commissioner) of a foreign company in Indonesia, this group requires the relevant KITAS and work permit, if applicable, in the same position and company for a minimum of three years.
For the Elderly, you must be at least 55 years of age and hold Retirement KITAS during the specified period. The Retirement KITAS/KITAP needs to have a sponsor of an appointed agent by the Tourism Ministry.
If you are the primary KITAP holder and married, your spouse and children (below 18 and unmarried) are eligible for a Dependent KITAP application. The validity of the Dependent KITAP aligns with the primary holder's KITAP validity.
In addition to the criteria above, there are several other conditions that KITAP can guarantee:
